About the Estancia
As you turn off the main route to drive the five or so kilometers leading to the estancia , you will immediately know that you are in different world. Vast countryside, wide-open skies, cows grazing the fields, and gauchos on horseback herding cattle are all on the horizon – this is the real gaucho Argentina. Pass the tiny-whitewashed school and a few small houses, and you arrive at start of the grounds of La Margarita. Driving through the white pillars marking the entrance to La Margarita and up to the main house, you will notice the wonderful trees and woods in the grounds. The picturesque estancia house, which dates from 1870, is located in the centre of the beautiful parklands and is surrounded by flowers and plants.
Unless you arrive during siesta (3 – 5 p.m. – see below re- siesta comments) you will be welcomed and offered refreshments. Once you have settled in to your room, you are free to do whatever you want. Explore the huge grounds, take a nap in a hammock, swim in the pool, watch the wonderful bird life or simply go for a walk to breathe in the wonderful fresh air and experience the refreshing calmness that La Margarita has in abundance.
In the winter, sit by the enormous log-burning fireplace in the living room. Share a glass of wine with fellow guests or relax with a good book. Of course all the estancia’s activities are there for you to enjoy, and our helpful staff will only be too happy to help you plan your time if you wish. We at the estancia will do all we can to make sure your stay at La Margarita is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life; that is our promise to you. Siesta Time  – The estancia along with all business, shops etc in Tapalque goes to sleep between 3-5 . Siesta time is a religion in the campo since the people work long hours. Could we ask that you arrive before or after siesta time. We are happy for you to arrive during siesta time but we can’t guarantee there will be anyone to greet you to show you to your room or give you lunch if you booked it til 5pm. Lunch finishes at 3pm.
